NEVERCV · FREE ATS RESUME & CV CHECKER

Free ATS resume and CV checker

Check your resume’s ATS readability and get a transparent score with prioritized fixes—without pretending to know an employer’s private ATS.

The basic check runs in this browser. The resume text you paste is not sent to NeverCV, and the check uses no credits.

Text readiness scan · Method 1.0

WHAT AN ATS CHECKER CAN ACTUALLY TELL YOU

A free ATS resume and CV checker can review pasted text for standard structure, scanability, evidence, and content risks, then return a transparent readiness score and prioritized fixes. It cannot access a specific employer’s private ATS, reproduce every parsing rule, inspect the rendered PDF, or predict an interview.

Standard structure

Detect recognizable experience, skills, education, and supporting sections in extracted text.

Text scanability

Review headings, bullets, text density, and extraction artifacts that make a resume harder to read.

Evidence quality

Look for action-led statements with context, scope, or truthful outcomes—not copied keywords.

Content risks

Flag placeholders, repeated first-person language, generic buzzwords, and raw document markup.

FREE ATS SCORE VS EMPLOYER ATS

A resume scanner can review the file you provide—not the employer’s system.

A free ATS resume checker or CV ATS checker can consistently flag visible structure, text extraction, evidence, and wording risks. That makes the score useful as a review checklist.

An employer ATS may use different parsing, screening questions, recruiter settings, integrations, and human review. NeverCV does not have access to those private rules, so “check resume score” should never be interpreted as an interview probability.

ATS CHECKER VS RESUME PARSER VS ATS SCREENING

Three terms, three different jobs.

An ATS checker is a candidate-side review tool. It looks for risks you can fix before applying. NeverCV checks pasted text for structure, scanability, evidence, and content risks using the public method below.

A resume or CV parser extracts information from a document into fields such as contact details, education, and work history. For example, Greenhouse documents that its parser scans an imported resume and fills detected candidate-profile fields, while Oracle describes resume parsing as populating an application from returned structured data.

ATS screening is the broader employer workflow. Depending on the configured system, it can include application questions, automated rules, recruiter filters, and human review. Greenhouse, for example, documents job-specific rules that can tag, advance, or reject applicants based on answers to configured questions—not a universal public resume score.

These published product workflows are why no outside CV checker can promise to reproduce every employer’s screening decision.

THE METHOD · VERSION 1.0

Readable rules, not a mystery score.

  1. 01

    Normalize the pasted text

The browser reads up to 40,000 characters and separates headings, bullets, contact signals, and content lines.

  2. 02

    Run four visible categories

Standard structure is 30%, scanability 25%, evidence quality 30%, and content risks 15% of the readiness score.

  3. 03

    Prioritize specific fixes

Failed checks become a review list. Passing checks remain visible so the score can be inspected rather than trusted blindly.

  4. 04

    Keep the boundary explicit

This is a deterministic text-readiness score. It is not an employer score, hiring decision, or interview forecast.

USE THE SCORE AS A REVIEW CHECKLIST

No checker can promise an ATS pass or interview.

Employers configure different systems and hiring workflows. This public tool examines only the text you provide. It does not verify whether a claim is true, test the final PDF layout, or decide whether you are qualified. Review every recommendation before use.

QUESTIONS

Before you trust any resume score.

How can I test my resume for ATS readability?

Paste the resume text into the free checker above. Review the section, scanability, evidence, and content-risk findings, then test the final exported file separately for reading order and visual problems. No public checker can reproduce one employer’s private ATS settings.

What does an ATS resume checker assess?

This checker assesses four visible categories in pasted resume text: standard sections, scanability, evidence quality, and content risks. Its exact weighting is published in the method above.

Is an ATS checker the same as a CV or resume parser?

No. A checker reviews a resume for fixable risks. A parser extracts document information into structured candidate fields. This NeverCV tool checks pasted text; it does not upload or parse the original CV file.

What happens during ATS screening?

The exact workflow varies by employer. It can include resume parsing, required application questions, configured rules, recruiter search or filters, and human review. A public ATS test cannot see which combination an employer uses.

Can an ATS automatically reject an application?

Some systems support employer-configured rejection rules. For example, Greenhouse documents rules triggered by answers to custom job-post questions. That is different from receiving a low score from a public resume checker, which does not know the employer’s configuration.

Is this an employer’s real ATS score?

No. NeverCV cannot see an employer’s private ATS configuration. This score measures visible text-readiness signals using the published method on this page.

Does NeverCV upload or store the pasted resume?

No. The public basic check runs in your browser. Analytics record only non-sensitive events such as whether a check completed and its broad result band—not the resume text.

Does the checker inspect my PDF formatting?

No. This version checks pasted text. It can notice extraction artifacts, but it cannot inspect fonts, columns, images, margins, or the rendered PDF. Use the final exported file for a separate visual review.

Should I add numbers to every bullet?

No. Add scale or outcomes only when they are true and supportable. Useful evidence can also describe scope, complexity, ownership, stakeholders, or a concrete change.
